Burl Wood: I Can't Get Enough
Ever since I used the Jonathan Adler burl console show above in the living room of my Back Bay project, I haven’t been able to get enough of burl wood. I’ve subsequently used it in every single project I’ve done and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. The tortoise colored wood instantly warms up any space and it adds just the right amount of texture. Burl wood brings with it a modern yet vintage feel that is hard to match with any other material that is currently out there.
I find myself drawn to the newer pieces, especially those mixed with materials like lucite and metal, just as much as I am to the vintage ones. I’d probably give a finger for an original Milo Baughman burl wood console but since I enjoy all my extremities I’ll probably just stick to the CB2 version. If you are looking for a real statement piece in your home, definitely take a look at burl wood. It’s something that has spanned decades and clearly it’s not going out of style anytime soon.
Below I’ve rounded up my favorite vintage and new burl wood pieces. This material is coming back with a vengeance and I hope this means there will be a lot more products offered in the future. I guarantee you I will be the one designing homes around them! Xx
