Have Kids, Will Adventure
About ten minutes after I hit publish on yesterday's post the rain again came pouring down. Word on the street (err beach) is that we are in some sort of funky weather pattern that is either due to a storm off the coast of Mexico, or one in the Caribbean. Either way, the rain and bad surf seem here to stay and given that we don't have a car, our options seem to be pretty limited when you exclude the beach. We had been talking about taking the boys up to the Arenal Volcano to play in the natural hot springs and tour the volcano and right now it seems like there is no time like the present. The idea is that if we leave to the actual rainforest, maybe by the time we get back the sun will be out. Or at least we won't kill each other. Either works for me.
The volcano isn't close, it's about a 4-5 hour drive, but we were able to find a van that will take us there and pick us up. This is something that we have wanted to do with the boys for years (my husband and I did this same trip some 15 years ago) but they never really seemed old enough. We are thinking they are ready and even if they aren't we are going to give it a go. Even if it's raining up there they will still have fun in the volcanic hot springs and there really is nothing cooler than walking on a volcano in the dark! As I keep saying to them- this will be an adventure and luckily they are all in.
I won't be posting here tomorrow or thursday but you can follow me on Instagram if you'd like to see what we are up to. I'll be back on Friday with a big bad caftan roundup (quite of you have inquired about my much loved and growing collection) and then I should be back to business as usual. I wish you all a wonderful week, and one that is hopefully rain free! Xx
