Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and interior design. Hope you have a nice stay!

Artist Obsession: Amanda Stone Talley

Artist Obsession: Amanda Stone Talley

Like a lot of you, today I am feeling very uneasy about the state of the world. Chemical weapons, missiles, Russia, a possible (probable?) war... it's a lot. A lot of fear, a lot of uncertainty, and a lot of questions. I'm not about to pretend that I have answers to any of them and I wish I could say that I had faith that our elected leaders do. I feel helpless and small and I know most of you are felling the same way right now. I've started about a dozen posts today and I've found myself unable to focus on any of them.

If there is one thing that I know we should be talking about in times of war- it's art, and even though I'm not anywhere close to being an expert on these things, I know what I like and right now an artist that I am obsessed with is New Orleans based Amanda Stone Talley. I know a lot of us like to look a beautiful things in times like these and, truly, there are few artists whose work I find more beautiful than the work created by Talley.

Talley, has been a major player in the art scene for some time now and I can't tell you how many of her pieces that I have wanted to use in previous projects. The rub has been that her work is pricey, but it is so for good reason. These are not mass produced canvases, but rather original paintings, and I've always felt that when you take into account the beauty that her art can bring to a space, each piece is worth every penny of the price tag.

What I love most about Talley's paintings is how modern they are but also how soft they can be. A lot of her pieces are used in very traditional interiors and it makes sense why. A Talley painting brings in an instant feeling of modernity and that can go a long way in keeping a space feeling fresh. She also combines color in such a genius way and right now I'm hoping to use her art in not one, but two homes that I am working on. How lucky am I???

If you'd like to take a look at some of the pieces that Talley currently has available you can find them here. She also accepts commissions and I really appreciate that she has such transparent pricing. I was so excited to see that she also has a wallpaper and fabric line and my wheels are already turning thinking about how I can incorporate these in the projects that I am currently working on.

If you are looking for a bold statement piece to bring some new life into a room in your home, look no further than one of Talley's paintings. The world always needs more art, and I can say that a home could always use a Talley! Xx
