I've had a pretty serious girl crush on Jesse Kamm ever since I read her style story by Garance Dore a few moths back. In my head I have this vision of what I would like to look like when I finally become a grown up and let's just say that this adult version of me is definitely as effortlessly cool as Kamm is. I'm pushing 40, so I'm not quite sure when this transformation is going to happen (the geek runs deep in these bones) but until then a girl can dream.
Over break I was reading through some of the NYT style archives and lo and behold I found a great write up featuring Kamm and her sailor pants. After reading the piece I discovered that Kamm is not only a surfer, but she and her family spend quite a bit of time at their home in Panama to get away from it all. This is when my girl crush turned to love and what can I say? I'm smitten.
Of course I then went down the rabbit hole of all things Jesse Kamm and it only took a minute to discover the pants she designs which have somewhat of a cultish following (Jenna Lyons is a big fan!) Apparently, up until this fall they were impossible to track down but then a new collection was released and it included an array of colors.
Yes, I want them all.
The catch? They are pricey. (Like, really pricey).
Are they timeless? I'd say yes. Comfortable? They sure seem it. Built to last? Um, they better be. Do they go with everything from sandals to booties, to crop tops and sweaters, yes, yes, and yes. Okay, the real question... are they worth the price? This, my friends, is a to be determined. I'd love to find a store that carries them locally, just to give them a try, but so far I've only seen them online. If any of you have a pair, would you mind commenting about just how magical they are? I'm not a huge fan of a high waist but they just look so freaking amazing on that I might just be okay with that.
I pulled together some images of the famed Kamm pant, many modeled by the designer herself and all I can say is that this these are not helping with my obsession. If there was ever an anti- skinny jean, this is it and man I am in love. The grown up version of myself would live in these all day long, I just know it.
If you want to see more colors, the entire collection can be found here. Right now I'm loving the light blue and the white, but the red, navy, and olive are also making my heart skip a beat. I'm pretty sure the hardest part of ordering a pair of these magical pants is deciding on what color to choose! Xx
