I spend more time than I would like to admit scouring the internet for inspiration for the Costa house. Like, a lot of time. It's hard to believe it but In just one month we are meeting with our (hopeful) architect and I want to come to that meeting with a (large) binder in hand, just so we are all on the same page from the get-go.
Over the past few months I've become very confident that I want a modern spanish design with some mid century elements and while I'm sure this has been done before, I had yet to find something that really captured my true vision. For the interior I've decided to go with a sea of blues and as much pattern as I possibly can get in there (obviously) and I've found quite a few beach houses that have adopted this aesthetic, but very few have been in a tropical climate and most have been housed in more traditional homes. I had figured that I was going to have to piece together what I want the "feel" of the space to be (not to copy, but rather so my father and everyone else can visualize what's in my head) as I was starting to think that the two are rarely combined.
Well, that was last week, and earlier this week I stumbled on the Halcyon House, a boutique hotel in Cabarita Beach, Australia. I'm not kidding when I say that I may have shed a tear. This hotel, inside and out, is EVERYTHING I've had swimming around in my brain ever since we purchased our land. I can honestly say I have never seen I space that I want to be in more. The style, the pattern and yes, the feel... if we can get anywhere near this with our own build then you know that I am going to be one happy homeowner in the end.
Let's just take a look at the beauty that is the Halcyon House.
First the exterior: for our home I'd like to to be a little chunkier and I'd do a different railing but seriously, the way they combined some modern elements (the shape and stark white finish) with some traditional ones (the arches and lanterns) and then the mid-century details... for me, this really is absolute perfection.
... and then there is the interior. Those of you who have been long time readers know how this speaks to my soul. While we won't be wallpapering, given the humid climate, you can bet I am taking so many cues from these beautiful rooms. I swear, each one is better than the next and I have never been more confident in wanting to do another home swathed in blue. There isn't really much more I can say, these pictures speak for themselves.
No, I'm not crying, I'm just cutting an onion.
For real, this space is so insane and I really, truly, madly, deeply am inspired by it. I can only hope one day to see it in person but you can bet that I will be seeing it every night in my dreams. This is definitely being added to my hotel bucket list and my Pinterest board and dear God, if any of you ever stay here please be sure to report back!
Now the real question, what am I going to do with those hours of my life that I am getting back now that I've found my "inspiration?" With school getting out in just three short weeks somehow (sadly) I think they will be quickly filled! Xx
