On Friday, our new dining room chairs (pictured above) arrived and I absolutely am in love with them! I went with the John Vogel for West Elm chair, and even with our old, mismatched dining room table (which soon will be living with my sister) they breathe so much life in to our home. I love the clean lines, low curved profile and yes!!! they are incredibly comfortable too! The best part of the new seating is that it has a very open weave made of jute which is incredibly kid friendly. After cleaning spots weekly off of our old upholstered dining set I couldn't be more excited about the change!
It's hard to deny that these chairs aren't "inspired" by the famed mid-century Hans Wegner elbow and wishbone chairs, both of which are a long time favorite of mine. The thing I love most about these chairs, and the original Wegners, is that they look equally as great with round or a rectangular table. Like a round mirror, I love how they break up a lot of the severe and linear lines that most of us by nature have in our homes. Already their shape has completely changed the feel of our living / dining room making the whole space feel a little more eclectic. For our new table I went with oval tulip table (al la the third image below) and am now stalking the delivery team dying to know when my piece will arrive! After a decade of matching espresso laminate pieces (shown here) that always felt too heavy in our space, I am so excited to finally have a dining area that I love! I feel like the clean and simple design will work in any type of home, and you know this one will be following us well into the next decade (or three!)
Below I've pulled together some of my favorite inspiration images that show the beauty of the Wegner chair. I also linked the originals and some great replicas for those of you who are looking to mix things up in you own dining space. For those of you who like to go back and "shop the post" I've also added a new feature to the blog under "store" in the header. This is where I will permanently keep my favorite home, fashion, and beauty products that are inspired by my posts. This means no more scrolling though old posts to find something I mentioned weeks or months go! I hope you like this feature as much as I do! xx
