I've made it no secret that I am pretty obsessed with the 90's. I feel like this era was so wasted on me the first time around (damn you teenage angst) that it is only now that I am in my late thirties that I can truly appreciate the decade that was. From movies, to music and everything in-between I simply cannot get enough of the time period that brought us Nirvana, Reality Bites, My So Called Life, and grunge EVERYTHING.
Of course, my desire to recapture the past extends to my love of fashion and when I saw this dress during my recent NYC trip, I knew I had to add it to my wardrobe. From the front it reminded me of the black slip dress that I wore almost every day of my senior year of high school, and the back... well, let's just say that anything that me allows me to show off my well earned tan lines is top notch in my book. Paired with Doc Martins (yes, those too are back. no, I'm not sold on this idea either) you can almost envision Drew Barrymore circa 1994 stepping out on a red carpet.
Here, I kept things simple with my beloved birks and every day bucket bag, but I've also dressed up the look with nude wedges and a clutch. Either look makes me feel like a carefree teen again, and you absolutely cannot beat the feeling of dipping in that fountain of youth almost twenty years later. This time around teenage malaise, not included.
