A New Day

For years I've had an idea in my head of what I wanted this site to look and feel like. Of course, like most things in life, I had the vision but no skills to actually implement those changes. Like my house, I knew this space could be so much more, but when I would inquire about the changes I wanted, I would be quoted some astronomical sum which I just couldn't justify investing.

Over the weekend we had some of our good friends staying with us, who for years have been offering to help me with my site. When we were together it never seemed like the right time, and I had no idea where to even begin if we were building it virtually. On Saturday, we celebrated Liam's 8th birthday and the poor guy wasn't feeling good. All he really wanted to do was watch a skate movie with everyone, and while that was going on we started to mess around with squarespace. Like my kitchen renovation, it was one of those things where once we started, I couldn't stop until it was exactly what I had envisioned.

What you see here is the site of my dreams, a true reflection of what this space is about. The content is going to remain the same (fashion, interiors, travel, food & drink, and my usual musings) but I hope this new direction makes it visually more appealing and allows my community to grow.

I am still working out a few of the kinks, one being a search bar and the other getting the rss feed up and running for those who like to have posts delivered to their inbox. I'm hoping to have these fixed by next week. I encourage you to click the icons at the top, as most things have changed from the old page. The labels for categories are now on the sidebar, and with the exception of food & drink, are intact. I lost the ability to track back to my old blog, but will spend the next few weeks getting those links corrected.

I'd love to hear what you all think or if there is anything you would like to see here that I am missing. The comment feature on this new page is much easier than the last, and you can now reply to other commentators, or simply "like" posts without leaving a message. I hope this creates more of a dialog for the reader, and I now can respond to your specific comments with ease (and absolutely plan to do so ;)).

It's a new day around here! I hope you all love this new space as much as I do! I cannot thank our dear friends Ian and Jackie for the gift of this beautiful and streamlined site.... THANK YOU!!!!
