On Overalls

A few years back I purchased these overalls at a post-Christmas sale for next to nothing (seriously, I think they were marked down from $600 to $40!) At the time I thought they were cute but I wasn't sure how practical they would be for my every day life. Jump ahead, and a few years later it turns out that they are one of the most worn items in my closet. So much so that you will often hear "are you really wearing your onesie again?" come from my husband. My answer always is YES!!!

I think that it's such a chic look and beyond that overalls just make life so easy! You know how you dress infants in those one-piece pajamas all day long so you don't have to think about it? Well, this is the exact same thing, just for adults (same goes for jumpsuits!). I believe that the key to wearing overalls is to make sure they are made of a material that is a little more lux (these are wool and leather) AND you have to style them in a way that no pre-teen / toddler would ever think of. For me, this means more edgy accessories like a moto inspired clutch and Birkenstocks as shown here, and I often pair them with a striped long sleeve shirt and little suede booties for school events.

I'm not going to lie, when I first received them I did a little questioning myself. As in, "am I actually going to be able to pull these off?" Luckily, after a few minutes of googling I was able to find some ladies far more stylish than I, rocking the hell out of their overalls, and ever since I've been pretty much wearing them in a similar way.

Owning this pair of overalls has really forced me to take fashion risks and that alone is worth the price tag. Never again will I say "never" when it comes to an item of clothing and I've learned that sometimes all it takes is a good sale and a little internet inspiration to end up with a look that makes your heart swoon. xx
