Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and interior design. Hope you have a nice stay!

I've said it here about a dozen times before, and I'll say it again, the one item every woman needs in their closet is a black blazer. Owning one makes getting dressed for work, weekend, or going out a breeze and it allows you to look instantly pulled together with almost no effort.

I purchased this wool tuxedo style blazer a few years back, and I'm sure that at this point it's holding on by a thread I have worn it so many times. Whether I'm wearing a t-shirt, or my favorite silk blouse, jeans, or trousers, it gives instant polish to almost any outfit and I can't imagine what I will wear when it finally falls apart. Because I consider this to be THE staple item in my wardrobe, I knew this was something I wanted to splurge on. After retiring my beloved Zara blazer, I was in search of something professional that also felt a little fun. I wore suits every day for years as an attorney, and I knew I wanted something that was a little non-traditional so when I pared it with jeans I didn't feel like I was heading to the office.

This play on a traditional tuxedo blazer fit the bill perfectly and I often wear it with shirts that are longer to really enhance the flirty back of the blazer. Paired with my favorite boots that are not only comfortable but by far the edgiest thing I own, this outfit is one that I come back to time and time again for school events, brunching / shopping trips with friends and even on girl's nights out or date nights. I feel comfortable, stylish, pulled together and right at home in my uniform of black and ivory. If I'm thinking about a capsule wardrobe, these pieces would be 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 and given how many years I've owned them, and I have to say I still love them as much now as the day I purchased them. If that is not a testimate to buying what you love, I'm not sure what is. xx
